ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI PARISH, SAHSNIANG

St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Sahsniang was opened and entrusted to the care of the Capuchins by Archbishop Emeritus Thomas Menamparambil, the then Apostolic Administrator of Jowai Diocese on 17th July 2016. It is a Parish carved out of Immaculate Conception Parish, Mawkyndeng, a Salesian Parish. The place is situated at the Western side of JaiƱtia Hills, close to the border of Meghalaya-Assam. It is consisting of seven catholic villages belonging to Khasi-Pnars (a clan of Khasi Tribe who speaks Pnar dialect). There is good concentration of Catholics in all these villages and thus this centre becomes one of the main centres for pastoral and educational activities of the Custody
