On the 14th of February 2023AD, Br. George Antony OFM Cap, the Minister Provincial of St. Joseph Province of the Capuchin Franciscans, lays the Foundation Stone for the First Capuchin House, with the name “Shanti Nilayam”, in the diocese of Chanda, in Karanja in the presence of the friars Br. Sharon Plakootam, Br. Joseph Mathew Veliparambil, Br. Sebastian Chundakattil, Br. Justin Ambazhathunkal, Br. Anup Puthenpurayil, Br. Edison Panoor, Br. Mathew Paikada (SyM Mission Co-ordinator), the Building contractor Mr. Joshi Mattam and a group of friends and neighbours. We seek the blessings of Holy Father Pope Francis, in the tenth year of his reign, the blessings and support of Mar Ephrem Narikulam, the Bishop of Chanda, the solidarity of all the Syro Malabar Capuchin Missionaries of St Joseph’s Province, and the support of the Capuchin Friars of Pittsburg Province, Pennsylvania, who are our partners in Mission.The relics of St Padre Pio of Pietrelcina and St Alphonsa, the medals of the Holy Cross, Mother Mary, and St Benedict are kept in the foundation stone.
